Sky Battles são um novo mecanismo de batalha que apenas certos treinadores irão participar. Dentro destas batalhas, só podes usar um grupo restrito de Pokémons. Por essas batalhas, tu tens que usar Flying-type Pokémon, Pokémon ou com Levitate. No entanto, nem mesmo todos esses são elegíveis, como Doduo e Pidgey que, apesar de reunirem as condições necessárias, não podem participar. O Mega-Charizard X pode ser usado nessas batalhas, apesar de não ter os requisitos necessários após a mega-evolução.
Dentro dessas batalhas, também és capaz de usar os movimentos como Gravity e do tipo terra movimentos mas, obviamente, não vão funcionar. Mas não são apenas esses ataques que não se podem usar. Abaixo deixo uma lista dos Pokémons que podes usar e dos ataques que não podes usar. No entanto, além dessas restrições, as batalhas são praticamente iguais às batalhas individuais do jogo.
Cada batalha pode ser feita apenas uma vez, no entanto, e quando os derrotares todos, receberás uma medalha no Pokémon Global Link.
